Rediscovering Hobbies Through Travel

Retirement hands back the one resource that was always short: unstructured time. What most people discover is that they have forgotten how to spend it.

Travel is a useful way back in. A sketchbook gives you a reason to sit somewhere for an hour. A pair of binoculars turns a dull hotel garden into a morning.

Several of our workshop regulars started painting on a trip, in the way you start anything at that age — badly, cheerfully, and then rather well.
